south of the Han spa-ing: Conrad Spa, Yeouido

Conrad Spa, Conrad Hotel @IFC Seoul, Yeouido.

Intimidation factor: None. The front staffers are quite cheerful, calm, and well dressed.  I’ve been there in finery and been there in jeans and been treated the same.  They’re nice people at the Conrad Spa.

Number of front desk staffers: Two, including two therapists waiting in the wings to bring welcoming tea and then escort you to the treatment rooms.

Response time: Immediate. Welcomed to sit down, consult about treatments and off we go.

Vibe: 5 star opulence with airy open spaces, many treatment rooms and the tallest ceilings I’ve ever seen for a spa waiting area.  Very chic and cool.  However, carpets look a bit shabby in the tea rooms and this hotel is barely a year old!

Products used:  Clarins body and facial products for men and women.  Aromatherapy Associates for women’s body and facial treatments. Thoughts?  Ambivalent as am not a fan of Clarins products and my own clinic also does Aromatherapy Associates facials using some of the same products.

Price range: Expensive but on par with other major Seoul hotels.  Up to you to decide if their prices are worth it for Clarins and Aromatherapy Associates.  Avg. 165,000 for 1 hour treatments to 594,000 for a couples 120 minute body/facial treatment.

Rating: Two Aromatherapy Associates rose serum bottles out of four.

This is my go-to-place when I’m in the central business district Yeouido, IFC  area.  It really is a quiet oasis in a busy mall.

I just had to deduct rose serum bottles because of their product selection.  Intraceuticals is something they recently added but I haven’t had a chance to try yet. Clarins and Aromatherapy Associates don’t do it for me.

Had minor problems with hard body towels and aggressive skin brushing from one therapist.  I like that they act promptly when problems arise and fix them in the best way they know how.   They re-did one of my treatments without complaint and this is a sign of a classy spa.
