Hyatt Regency Danang: Vie Spa review

We stayed for three days at the Hyatt Regency Danang in an up and coming part of Vietnam.   It’s a very solid 4 star property but nothing more.  The spa beautifully designed in that Southeast Asia tropical way but a poor work ethic and some questionable attitudes bring it down in my eyes. It could,  also be closer to the resort with clearer signs on how to get there from the rooms and common areas. What I loved : Outdoor bath for treatment rooms I didn’t get time to use it but looks solo inviting! The not-so-good 1. Bait and Switch and the adamant receptionist I don’t like being told there’s one thing available and then it disappearing.  I thought I had successfully changed to a Four Hands treatment on the phone but the receptionist almost threatened my husband that I needed to come now for the previously planned 90 mind couple treatment.  I was fully immersed in my book by the pool.   IM NOT HOPSTEPPING because receptionist threatens to charge me for …

RIRAKU spa Hyatt Regency Kyoto: the penultimate treatment ‘Riraku’ review

Spa review: a weekend spa marathon session at RIRAKU spa, Hyatt Regency Kyoto. The streamlined, secluded Hyatt Regency RIRAKU spa was my place of refuge this past Sunday afternoon. The goal:  Enjoy the best and longest treatment Hyatt Regency Kyoto has to offer.  Go big or go home on Mother’s Day! I had done everything else at this spa so why not go for their penultimate treatment on the menu?  I spend my day (and pretty much, life) in my office, at functions, on planes and in hotels, What I needed was this time off to help me refocus on my overall well-being. The treatment:  The RIRAKU package is really a combination of the 90 minute Herbal Body mud, 90 minute Aromatherapy body treatment and 70 minute Chidoriya Organic facial.  It comes out 6000 yen cheaper than stacking those 3 separately so that’s another plus right off the bat :). This RIRAKU journey aims to provide a whole body sensory experience  through the herbal mud,  Dead sea salt scrub and acupressure aromatherapy.  The finisher is an …

SALTY: Korea and Japan Hyatt’s luxe bathing put to the test

Bath salts are such a gift to any hotel stay and today, Miss Spaist, has the pleasure to review some of the finest from my favorite Hyatt hotels in Korea and Japan!   ANDAZ Tokyo (Coriander and eucalyptus, Spring variety.  Seasonal blend and in all rooms) What I Liked: Balanced seasonal ingredients with unique, inspiring blends. What I’d Improve: A little more scent and bathwater presence. Conclusion: A unique bath salt that needs more ooophf. Delivers seasonal variety and organic, locally sourced Japanese quality though. Park Hyatt Busan (Yuzu citrus bath, all rooms, general hotel amenity) What I Liked: Impressive wet bathwater presence (flower pedals or herbs) and soothing Yuzu citrus scent. What I’d Improve:  Packaging fits Park Hyatt motif but feels cheap and uninspired.  Questionable composition with strong, possibly orangey artificial coloring and scents.   Conclusion: An okay choice for anyone wanting a yuzu warm bath and unconcerned with organic credentials. Hyatt Regency Kyoto (Yuzu Kousaido brand locally sourced bath salts, made in Kyoto Prefecture) What I Liked: Elegant, cute packaging and appearance. Very …

Sea View spa: wonderful Sunday spaing at Hyatt Regency Jeju

Spaing with the fishes. Sea View is a small spa that probably does very well for itself no matter the season. And why wouldn’t it?  It’s one great spa that brought its R game and totally relaxed Miss Spaist. As to be expected, the Sea View spa has a lot of ocean touches from their sea shell oil containers to the colorful school of fish mural greeting patrons upon arrival.  The look is part quirk, with pride of place and island given to the coastal surroundings. The staff just perpetuate the smaller city, kinder folks truth that happens in Korea.  Case in point, when I was running late and called to apologize.  All they said was safety first and told me to take my time. No threats about shortened treatment time or sighing eyerolls to yet, another delinquent late customer.  The smaller city charm on a phone! My treatment was their summer orange special, with a 60 minute body massage followed by a 20 minute cooling stone head massage.  First, they had me pick from a …
