Missing service, stars and more at Signiel, Evian spa, Seoul

Miss Spaist is back after a long hiatus.  A combination of WordPress apathy, social media (hello Instagram!) and changing careers put the digital quill and paper away.   I’m back to tell you about the mainly bad from Seoul’s newest spa, Evian @ Lotte Signiel.  Many worship at the altar of Lotte Corporation. Koreannially (I made this up from Korea and perennial. Maybe, it sounded cleverer in my head but I distress) renown for department stores,  hotels,  confectionery, cinemas,  construction, subpar burgers and baseball teams and a whole lot more.  I do not. Lotte is a very successful Japanese company but I’ve never really liked any of their stuff.   I’ve also felt that something changed ever since they change their logos and color schemes in the early 2010s.   I’ve never been a fan of their flagship Lotte hotel in Myeongdong either.  Just very cheap feeling without the luxury service to match. Amenities,. touches around the suite and even the room height.  At the time,  it seemed geared to Japanese guests more than anything.  …

Going home again: Summer spaing at Grand Hyatt Seoul The Spa

Opening in spa years what seems like an eternity ago (2007), the Grand Hyatt Seoul’s spa has been pioneering treatments and quality service for many moons.  It was a pleasure to go back as always and be pampered by their excellent hands and touch. Situated across from the famous Grand Hyatt pool entrance and the Club Olympus sauna, athletic facilities and just a hop, skip and jump from the speedy elevator.  The black monolithic lobby is a luxe, relaxing affair – an awe inspiring destination in itself. SERVICE Service is slick, polished and discreet, as befits a five-star spa in a Grand Hyatt and in the capital of Korea.   The hotel, positioning itself as an urban retreat for Koreans, Seoulites and their families.  Issues have been far and between (ever) and this is a great thing to Miss Spaist. SPAING No shortage of choices here. For a luxurious, occasional indulgent pampering, try their Gold Caviar 90 minute facial, the Hungarian-inspired facial + facial massage techniques lifts and plumps the facial muscles while two separate masks reduce wrinkles and nourish …

My Spirulina Spa Sunday at Park Hyatt Busan

Yesterday’s spa treatment was very last minute and from one of my “local” spas in Park Hyatt Busan.  Can’t always be gallivanting in BKK or Tokyo! As previewed here:  preview Bright Body package -Lumi Spa, PH Busan The treatment was going to use a Spirulina complex in a body slimming program for 90 minutes. Spirulina is a nutrient-rich freshwater plant that is high in protein.  In fact, it’s one of the most concentrated nutrient sources on the planet with as much calcium, phosphorus and magnesium as milk and more B12 than raw calve liver.  Its marine blue-green color comes from chlorophyll, making it both supremely healthy and can be used in Summer drinks (more on this later). The treatment broke down as follows: 60 minute body massage 20 minute Spirulina body wrap with cleansing shower (by yourself) 10 minute Kerstin Florian algae facial The final result was my relaxation, super smooth and hydrated skin that felt refreshed from sweaty Korean June.  Anna had great short, powerful strokes and just the thing I needed after a Seoul business …
